Some of our DSL customers are experiencing an outage this morning. There doesn't seem to be a particular area affected and the outage started about 8:15 am.

As of 9:30 am, service has been restored to the small percentage of our DSL customers affected by the outage.

The problem appears to been caused by a loss of power at a telecom building in San Francisco, even though it had fully redundent power. It caused telephone and DSL outages for AT&T and LTOL customers from San Francisco through to Reno.

We're sorry for the interruption in service.

Thank you for your patience.

Nevada Power, formerly known as Sierra Pacific Power Company, had numerous power outages today in Truckee, Martis Valley and the airport. The first outage was a brown out that occurred around 6:00 am. LTOL moved to alternate power shortly after.

Power was temporarily restored around 8:30 am and while LTOL was moving back to Nevada Energy, a second, more serious power outage occurred. As of 11:30 am, power has been restored and LTOL is off alternate power.

Customer may have noticed short interruptions in service during the outage, when our servers were moving from one power source to another. There will be a short delay in mail delivery that should be cleared up before noon.

Thank you for your patience.

Some customers are reporting that they have received emails that are allegedly from Lake Tahoe On Line mail service reporting that "your mailbox has been deactivated".

These emails are spam and the attachment is dangerous; they were not sent by LTOL.

LTOL will never send email attachments for updates.  (Neither will the IRS or Microsoft.)  When we have a service announcement, we'll post it on our website.

These are spoofed emails meaning spammers send out the emails pretending to be Lake Tahoe On Line. Unfortunately, there is no way we can prevent a spammer from spoofing an email address, even our own.

Please just delete these emails and treat them like spam. If you have any questions about this or other security issues, please give us a call at 530-582-2080. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
